On a lift truck, there can be a range of different ways which raise and lower the lifts, like: rack and pinion lifts, scissor lifts, screw lifts, telescoping lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift utilizes crisscrossed folding supports with a screw system which draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts use a pinion, that is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to raise the cargo. The telescoping lift mechanism is made with many sections that retract and extend out of and into each other to achieve lifting action. Screw lifts utilize threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts utilize a mechanism that involves many sections which unfold or articulate. An example of an articulated lift is the "cherry picker."
Lift truck Material Handling
In material handling methods, there can be numerous reasons to keep up with changes. Material handling methods and the machines can be utilized to handle increased geographical coverage, additional SKUs, and the requirement to lower inventories. Machines which are well ahead of the technological curve could help maximize productivity and increase profitability.
Forklift Battery & Charging Technology
The choice to convert from conventional, IC forklifts to electric lift trucks is a wise one as the newest series of electric forklifts provide higher capacities and longer run-times than ever before. Charger and battery combinations are providing much more power for much longer periods than older systems were capable of accomplishing. Enhancements in both battery and charger technologies are not only making electric forklifts more beneficial but they are making it possible to have warehouse operations that are more environmentally friendly.
These new batteries are called Li-ion batteries or Lithium-Ion batteries. This technology is still quite new, however Li-ion batteries show incredible promise. They are not only smaller but can hold up to six times the charge of conventional lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have really low maintenance requirements and can maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
